2013-14 REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is pleased to announce the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) 2013-14 Request for Proposals. Applications are due March 22, 2013. For Application Guidance, the Application Template, and information about technical assistance, go to Requests for Proposals.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY

Any public or private organization is eligible to apply for a 21st CCLC grant. Agencies and organizations eligible under the 21st CCLC grant program include, but are not limited to local education agencies (LEAs), non-profit agencies, city or county government agencies, faith-based organizations, institutions of higher education, and for-profit corporations.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM

The purpose of the program is to establish 21st CCLC programs that provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students’ regular academic program. These services include, but are not limited to tutoring, mentoring, homework assistance, academic enrichment (such as hands-on science or technology programs) community service opportunities, music, art, sports, and cultural activities. 21st CCLC programs must also offer families of participating students educational development opportunities. Centers also provide safe environments for students during non-school hours.
