1 NCAAP (North Carolina Alternate Assessment Portfolio) development begins within the first 30 calendar days of the student entering the class for a year-long process at grades 3–8 and 10. Baseline data collection must be completed by October 1, 2005 .
2 The North Carolina Alternate Assessment Academic Inventory (NCAAAI) has been discontinued. New alternate assessments, NCCLAS and NCEXTEND2, are under development.
3State Board policy mandates that all language minority students be assessed using the state-identified English language proficiency test (IPT) upon initial enrollment. All students identified as limited English proficient, based upon their IPT scores, must be administered the IPT at grades 1 and 2 and writing at grades 3–12 during the annual testing window of February 1– March 24, 2006. All students identified as limited English proficient, based on their IPT scores, must be administered the IPT Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking Subtests at Kindergarten and the Reading, Listening, and Speaking Subtests at Grades 3–12 during the annual testing window of February 1 – April 30, 2006.
4 Seniors who have failed to meet the requirements must be given an opportunity to retake the test during the last month of school.
5 Effective for students entering the eighth grade for the first time in the 2005-06 school year and beyond, the online test of computer skills will be administered to fulfill the computer skills proficiency graduation requirement.
6 Completed NCAAPs (North Carolina Alternate Assessment Portfolio) must be shipped to the NCDPI’s designated contractor NO LATER THAN April 28, 2006 .
