General Information about the North Carolina Writing Assessment at Grade 4

The North Carolina Writing Assessment program requires that the modes of writing assessed at grade 4 be aligned with the curriculum expectations as specified in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The program will assess writing at grade 4 using the Extended Narrative Response (personal or imaginative) mode. The North Carolina Writing Assessment must be administered on the first Tuesday of March.
