

Testing for Elementary School Students in North Carolina

In North Carolina, elementary school students are required to take the End-of-Grade Mathematics and Reading at grades 3,4, and 5 and the End-of-Grade Test of Science at grade 5.

- No Child Left Behind requires annual assessment of student achievement in reading, mathematics, and science at least once in grades 3-5, 6-9, and 10-12, beginning in 2007. North Carolina will be meeting this federal requirement with the End-of-Grade Tests.
