The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) has served American educators as an information resource for more than 40 years, providing reliable profiles of what our students know and can do in key subject areas. The Nation’s Report Card, as it has come to be known, is the only ongoing project to monitor trends in our students’ achievement at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

What is the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)?
General overview of the Nation’s Report Card
Why is your participation in NAEP so important?
When you participate in NAEP, you are helping measure educational progress across the nation. Not all students in the nation take the assessment; you were selected to represent hundreds of students just like you across our nation. To make sure that the NAEP results report just how much you and your peers have learned in your classes, it's essential that you participate in the assessment and try your best.
