SAMPLE ITEMS FOR THE NORTH CAROLINA EOG READING COMPREHENSION TESTS GRADES 3–8

NOTE :: Various file formats are used on this page that may require download. If larger than 1mb, it will take longer to download. For instructions or more information, please visit our download page.

The following items were developed for the North Carolina End-of-Grade Tests and are aligned to the 2004 English Language Arts Standard Course of Study (Content Standards). The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has chosen to release this group of items so that the public may have access to items similar to those that appear on the EOG tests administered during the school year 2007-2008 and beyond.

These materials and the information contained within must not be used for personal or financial gain. North Carolina LEA school officials and teachers, parents, and students may download and duplicate or quote from these materials without prior written permission from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Division of Accountability Services/North Carolina Testing Program.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction wishes to express gratitude to the authors and publishers who have granted permission to use their work. Every effort has been made to locate the copyright owners and omissions brought to our attention will be corrected.

End-of-Grade - At this time, not all of the sample selections and items are approved for posting due to pending copyright permissions. Additional sample selections and items will be posted as copyright permissions are granted. For each grade level, there will be one selection per genre posted. The genres are fiction, nonfiction, poetry, content, and consumer.
