AP reporting shows results from the 115 NC Public School Systems and Charter Schools where students have taken AP assessments. Each year listed reports data for the listed year and the two previous years.

HIGHLIGHTS IN NC PUBLIC SCHOOL AP DATA 2015-16

North Carolina continues to see growth in all three major categories of AP Exam Participation and Performance:

  • 3.7% increase of exam takers over last year (69,957 students, +2,279)  Two year 22% increase
  • 3.6% increase of exams taken over last year (129,538 exams, +3,991)  Two year 23% increase
  • 4.6% increase of examinees scoring 3+ over last year (66,646 exams, +2,809) Two year 13% increase


REMARKABLE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The number of Black AP Exam-Takers in North Carolina’s public schools increased 22.8% from 2014 to 2015, as compared to a 3.6% increase in Black AP Exam-Takers in public schools nationwide.
  • The number of Hispanic AP Exam-Takers in North Carolina’s public schools increased 21.3% from 2014 to 2015, as compared to an 8.2% increase in Hispanic AP Exam-Takers in public schools nationwide. 
  • For 2015-16, the data is not available due to a change in coding of students.
