Brief Description: Understanding how children’s literature can impact student interest and learning is the focus of this seminar. Discover the kinds of books that will motivate and excite your students and increase their desire to learn. Analyze the elements of good writing while enhancing your writing skills using theme, conflict, character, setting, and plot. Explore writing techniques used in children’s literature through the works of an award-winning North Carolina author. Connect with authors of children’s and young adult novels to hear what motivates them to write, and discover ways to motivate and inspire your students to write. Share your written stories in a safe and nurturing environment. Learn the art of bookmaking to explore your creative self and preserve your stories.
