Brief Description: This rigorous online course is organized around five enduringly popular characterizations of our sixteenth president: Railsplitter, Honest Abe, Father Abraham, Great Emancipator, and Savior of the Union. Through live seminars and engaging readings, we will attempt to understand Lincoln as a man and a president.

The course will offer up to 100 participants the opportunity to engage in live seminar-style discussions led by noted Lincoln scholar Matthew Pinsker. The Dickinson College historian, who is also a Visiting Research Professor at the Strategic Studies Institute of the US Army War College.
