HIGH SCHOOLS STUDENTS GO ELECTRONIC FOR SCHOOLWORK
High schoolers in Bladen County are ditching paper for a personal computer. Beginning on Thursday, the Bladen County School System will hand out Lenovo X130e laptops to every high school student in the county. Seniors will get first dibs on the laptops, then juniors, sophomores and finally freshmen. In June 2012, the school system started a pilot program to test personal tablets. The purpose of the pilot was to help school officials determine which digital device would best fit the educational needs of our teachers and students. Based on feedback and best practices from the pilot, officials were able to make a smart decision in choosing a laptop. Students will be able to take the laptop home and keep it until the end of the school year, according to a school spokeswoman. This project was funded in part by the Golden Leaf Foundation.
