STUDENTS LIKE HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE AT CAMP MED
Students from various Davidson County high schools are spending this week learning about possible careers in the health care arena. Camp Med, a four-day summer camp housed at Davidson County Community College, takes a deeper look into the roles, responsibilities, careers, salary ranges, educational preparation and work environment for jobs in the medical field."It's pretty cool, and it's a good experience," said East Davidson High School rising junior Krystha Torres. "This will help me get an idea of the different careers out there to figure out which career I want."The camp started Tuesday with students learning the different routes they could pursue for the traditional and nontraditional health care jobs. For students like Brianna Turner, a rising junior at Central Davidson High School, the exposure helps her decide if she wants to become an athletic trainer or physical therapist."This is a good opportunity to get good experience before I make my decision. I think it's a great experience," she said.
