FEATURES ARCHIVENORTHWEST WINS $1.4 MILLION GRANT
Northwest Elementary School has received a $1.4 million School Improvement Grant through the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. Northwest Principal Dennis Teel said the money will be used to create accelerated-learning classes, particularly in reading. "Most of our students start school two years behind, sometimes three," he said. "This grant will help us in kindergarten through third grade to accelerate learning so they make more than a year's growth."
