COSMETOLOGY BASICS PREPARE THE FINISHING TOUCH
North Mecklenburg High School's rebirth as a multi-dimensional hub for career-specific educational programs officially begins in August. But a few determined and dedicated students recently completed a prolonged spring semester in the school's re-fitted and refined cosmetology department to polish off the first phase of job skills training and advance on the path to professional certification. Under the supervision of cosmetology department director Melissa Prickett, 12 rising seniors extended their school year to take "Cosmetology 1" classes that ended last week, delaying their summer vacation but also preparing for total immersion in cosmetology — and the training equivalent to a technical college degree — this coming school year.
