TAKING OUT THE TRASH
Macon Early College is committed to creating an accelerated, rigorous and supportive learning environment for students so they can be active participants in their education and community. The students have created a Kids4Kids program to promote literacy in the community. They regularly collect food for local food banks and raise money to support the Ashley Moore Scholarship Fund that is awarded every year to a student wishing to continue their education after graduating high school.
On Sunday, March 10, MEC students gave up their afternoon for their quarterly litter pickup and collected 14 bags of trash and two tires. Students adopted Siler Road last year through the NCDOT's Adopt-A-Highway program. The litter collected on the side of the road has doubled since the extension was completed.
