PRE-K ENROLLMENT IN NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

Question:
How do you enroll PreK students in an LEA's ADM (in order for them to be eligible to participate in the NSLP) without influencing the district's "official" ADM?

Answer:
Pre-K students can be "enrolled" in SIMS or NCWISE. Just make sure they are in grade level PK. By enrolling them in grade level PK they will NOT be reported to NCDPI via the Principal's Monthly Report. They will NOT be part of the Average Daily Membership. They will not be calculated into the State ADM Funds.

There maybe a question about which Attendance Category to use. Either Membership Standard Day (MST1) or Visiting Standard Day (VST1) is acceptable. It is the grade level PK that will exclude the students from the PMR. It is also a fact that any grade level student with an Attendance Category of VST1 is excluded from the PMR also.
