North Carolina Career and Technical educators are encouraged to participate in professional organizations to improve their technical skills and enhance the profession.


GENERAL

The North Carolina Association for Career and Technical Education (NCACTE)
The North Carolina affiliate of ACTE, works to lead in the initiation, expansion, improvement and promotion of career and technical education.


The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE)
The largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for careers.


The Leadership Institute for Vocational Educators (NC-ALIVE)
Works to develop educational leadership among diverse ethnic populations in career and technical education.


North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE)
NCAE's mission is to advocate for members and students, to enhance the education profession, and to advance public education.


National Education Association (NEA)
The nation's largest professional employee organization, is committed to advancing the cause of public education.

The North Carolina Agriculture Teachers Association (NCATA)
A professional organization dedicated to the enhancement and support of the state and local Agriculture Education programs and NCATA members.
Business and Information Technology Education


BUSINESS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

The North Carolina Business Education Association (NCBEA)
This state association seeks to promote and improve the quality of business education at all levels through membership activities and meetings and through cooperation with public and private educational agencies and institutions with related professional organizations and with business and industry. NCBEA is an affiliate of the Southern Business Education Association (SBEA) and the National Business Education Association (NBEA).


National Business Education Association (NBEA)
The nation's largest professional organization devoted exclusively to serving individuals and groups engaged in instruction, administration, research, and dissemination of information for and about business.


The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) – Marketing Education Division
The Marketing Education Division of ACTE encompasses a diverse group of professionals dedicated to educating students in Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Public Relations Marketing, International Marketing, eCommerce, and Fashion Merchandising.

Membership in ACTE is required for active membership in this association.

COMPUTER SCIENCE

Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA)
The Computer Science Teachers Association is a membership organization that supports and promotes the teaching of computer science and other computing disciplines. CSTA provides opportunities for K-12 teachers and students to better understand the computing disciplines and to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and learn.


FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES

American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS)
Strives to improve the quality of individual and family life by providing educational programs, influencing public policy, and facilitating communication. Members focus on an integrative approach to the reciprocal relationships among individuals, families and communities, as well as the environments in which they function.

The North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NCAFCS) is the North Carolina affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The FACS Division of NCACTE is the Family and Consumer Sciences Division of the North Carolina Association for Career and Technical Education. This division provides opportunities for networking and professional development.


HEALTH OCCUPATIONS EDUCATION

North Carolina Health Occupations Education Teacher Association (NCHOETA)
NCHOETA is the state organization dedicated to the support of Health Occupations Education teachers.

National Consortium for Health Science Education (NCHSE)
This is a national organization of individuals and industry partners dedicated to health science education. The focus is to produce a well qualified health care workforce through conferences, professional development, integrated curriculum products, and a national assessment of the National Healthcare Foundations Skills. NCHSE works closely and in support of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).


MARKETING EDUCATION

Marketing Education Association (MEA)
This national association is an organization of educators and business people committed to the career development of youth and adults in the areas of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.


The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE)
The Marketing Education Division of ACTE encompasses a diverse group of professionals dedicated to educating students in marketing management, Entrepreneurship, Sports and Entertainment marketing, Public Relations Marketing, International Marketing, eCommerce, and Fashion Merchandising.


TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

International Technology Education Association (ITEA)
A professional organization for technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators. Our mission is to promote technological literacy for all by supporting the teaching of technology and promoting the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. ITEA strengthens the profession through leadership, professional development, membership services, publications, and classroom activities.
