DESCRIPTION
The Leadership Institute for Vocational Educators (LIVE) is an NCDPI initiative designed to develop educational leadership among diverse ethnic populations in career and technical education.
LIVE sponsors two activities annually, a leadership development workshop in the spring and a dinner meeting at the annual CTE Summer Conference, held in conjunction with the annual business meeting of NC-LIVE, a division of the NC Association for Career and Technical Education.
LIVE works to establish and maintain diverse leadership within career and technical education through activities such as creation of a database of members of ethnic minorities who are employed in career and technical education throughout the state and recognition of outstanding minority contributors to career and technical education.
PRIORITY OBJECTIVES
- Identify and discuss critical issues that affect the participation of minority Americans in career and technical education.
- Promote recruitment and retention of ethnic students, teachers, and administrators in all areas and levels of career and technical education.
- Provide a career information exchange system.
- Develop and implement strategies that support LIVE as the unified voice for ethnically diverse Americans at all levels of career and technical education.
- Improve the overall image of career and technical education.
