COLLEGE TECH PREP
UPDATE
We are pleased to announce the opening of the NC College Tech Prep 2009 Online Conference at http://www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/Tech_Prep/Conference. This conference highlights 37 different College Tech Prep activities from across the state of North Carolina. These ideas are brought to you by College Tech Prep consortia, partnering high schools and community colleges, who seek to streamline educational pathways for both secondary and postsecondary Career and Technical Education students.
DESCRIPTION
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 supports College Tech Prep, an initiative that prepares students to enter the high wage, high tech and rapidly changing career fields available in the present and future workplace. College Tech Prep is a seamless educational program that begins in the 9th grade and continues through high school and into a community college or four-year college. Students work to obtain a two-year or four-year degree, complete a registered apprenticeship, or participate in other formal training.
Perkins provides funding for College Tech Prep consortia. Consortia must be comprised of a local education agency(ies) and community college(s). These funds are for Tech Prep program enhancements and program innovation/demonstration.
