The high school science support documents detail the content for each objective, provide course sequencing information, include a variety of teaching strategies, give web resources, recommended classroom and laboratory activities, safety information and resources, and discuss the expectations for honors level courses. Each of these documents can be downloaded in word or pdf format from the Standard Course of Study page for the course at the links below or purchased in hard copy form from DPI Publications. The word version is provided to encourage teachers to modify materials to suit their individual classroom needs.
Reference Tables are provided for each of the following courses: Chemistry, Earth Environmental Science, Physical Science, and Physics. They can be downloaded from the links below or purchased from Publication Sales. They are also available in large type editions. Their purpose is to allow students and teachers to focus on understanding and applying concepts rather than memorizing equations. These reference tables are intended for students to use throughout each of the respective courses. Another copy of the appropriate Reference Tables will be provided to students when they take the End-of-Course Test. Students should be given their own copy of these reference tables at the beginning of each course and asked to use it frequently so that they become familiar with all of the information provided.

SCASS: This site is houses a database of science questions for use in the public domain. Log in as a "guest" and surf the database. North Carolina is a member of Science SCASS. Your local testing coordinator should be able to give you a password to use the secure item bank.
