  • Preparing for the CRDC

    This document describes the North Carolina process for preparing for the Civil Rights Data Collection. The document includes but is not limited to information about communication and support, LEA and Charter school responsibilities and PowerSchool functionality.

    ** Please Note:  Document Updated on 11/23/2016.  The draft watermark was removed from the document.  In addition, a Document Updates table was added, indicating the date the updates were made, a brief description, and the staff that updated and reviewed the document.  Contact information was added to request access to the CRDC Grads360 NC Workgroup and an Appendix of Tips for the collection.

  • PowerSchool CRDC Data Dictionary
    This workbook contains tabs that represent the PowerSchool CRDC Preview Report Data Views at the LEA level. The two final columns in each spreadsheet provide business rules used to collect the data from PowerSchool and identify the tables used.

    **Please Note:: A correction was made to the Data Dictionary on 9/27/2016. In the previous version, course codes beginning with '3430' were not identified as Physics. In addition, course codes beginning with '3420' were identified as both Chemistry and Physics rather than solely Chemistry.
    **Please Note:: An update was made to the Data Dictionary on 10/14/2016. Information was added regarding course requirements. The following statement was added to elements where courses or course enrollment is counted: ‘All sections must have the appropriate ‘Course Length’ selected. Students assigned to Sections without this attribute, may be omitted throughout the CRDC.’
    **Please Note:: An update was made to the Data Dictionary on 11/18/2016. Additional information was added regarding the collection of data for students passing math courses. The Stored Grade screen must include a value that is equal to or greater than 70 in the Percent field.

  • CRDC Expenditure Business Rules

    This document identifies the business rules used by the NC DPI to extract expenditure data for the SY 15-16 CRDC from state systems. This document is only giving a general logic for NC DPI specific object and purpose codes based on NC Chart of Accounts available at:

  • NC DPI Federal Submission Portal Template
    This file can be used if the LEA intends to upload the following data to the Federal Submission Portal:
    • Teacher Absenteeism
    • Athletics
    • Incidents
      Instructions are included in the first tab of the workbook.

    This file is the official Federal level file specs for uploading data to the Federal Submission Portal.  This file has been published as information only.  The NC DPI uses this information to generate the submission files for the OCR collection.

WEBINAR EVENTS:

Preparing for the Civil Rights Data Collection
These two hour sessions will provide reminders and status updates on the progress of the PowerSchool CRDC Preview reports, as well as discuss the NC DPI schedule for upload to the Federal Submission Portal. Users will also have the opportunity to ask about PowerSchool functional processes. Note: The project timelines are subject to change. Session times are from 1pm - 3pm. Note:: The first portion of the webinar will focus on the project; the second segment will be dependent on attendee questions.

  • Join us in the New Year on January 19, and 26 (Session times are from 1pm - 3pm) for information on the 2015-2016 Office of Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC).
  • Please review the November 4th Webinar recording located on the Grads360 CRDC NC Workgroup for a full demonstration of PowerSchool functionality.
  • All questions are welcome and any staff participating in the CRDC collection are invited. You only need to register once to receive reminders for subsequent events.
  • Additional Webinars may be scheduled based on need.

CRDC LABS: REAL-TIME-ASSISTANCE AT THE NC DPI

CRDC Labs are not webinars.  Labs are designed for district level staff working on the Office of Civil Rights Data Collection to get assistance with PowerSchool set-up in real-time.   Two staff members from an LEA and Charter may attend.

  • Friday, January 20, 2017 (1pm-4:00)

There are 20 seats available per session.  Seating priority will be on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.  Each session is 3 hours:  9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm, respectively.  If you find that you are unable to attend after you’ve registered, please Cancel your registration using the Go-To-Registration Confirmation you received after signing up.

Labs will be located in the 5th floor computer training room (room 564) at the NC DPI building in Raleigh.  The Department of Public instruction is located at 301 N. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27601-2825.

The training room temperature fluctuates.  It is recommended that you wear layers when attending the session. There is a café in the NC DPI building were you may purchase beverages, snacks, breakfast and lunch.  The café is located on the first floor on the north side of the building. The café accepts cash only; however, there is a State Employees Credit Union ATM kiosk located inside the café area.
