2004: 54TH CONFERENCE
ON EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS

Each year, the Exceptional Children Division is privileged to recognize those individuals who make outstanding contributions to exceptional children in the field of special education. Last year, eighty-four teachers and related services specialists were selected by their school systems to receive the Teacher of Excellence Award. This year, the Exceptional Children Division will present the Distinguished Service Award to Exceptional Children professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the state and/or nation through their careers of exemplary service. The Distinguished Service Award was first presented at the 50th Conference on Exceptional Children in July 2000 and again at the 52nd Conference in September 2002. Altogether, twenty-five prominent individuals have been recognized for their significant contributions to program development and services for children with disabilities and giftedness.
