SELECTION OF EVAAS

Prior to the State Board of Education's selection of EVAAS as North Carolina's statewide growth model, the Board and Department of Public Instruction engaged in a thorough review of various growth and value-added models. The Consortium for Educational Research and Evaluation-NC completed a technical review of value-added models and explored their use in teacher effectiveness. WestEd, a research and policy development agency, conducted a policy review and made recommendations to the State Board of Education. Using multiple sources of information, the State Board selected EVAAS as North Carolina's statewide growth model.
