ESAS is a WEB based interactive data extraction and distribution tool. It is designed to enable anyone with access to the Internet to extract the basic data for the NC school systems, create custom reports, and then download these to his or her computer. The only skill required is the use of a computer mouse.
In ESAS, education data is organized and grouped into categories such as "Students", "Personnel" and "Finances". Each category contains many data tables of various aspects of NC public education such as number of students, dropouts, course enrollments, expenditures etc. ESAS will allow you to answer questions like: "What was the final ADM in one or more LEAs over the last 15 school years?" Or, "Which LEAs have the largest percentage of Hispanic Students?" or "Which school systems (LEAs) are teaching French V and how many students are taking it?" etc. Custom reports that contain answers to these and many other questions can easily be produced.
Selected data can be arranged by nesting and crossing several data dimensions by dragging and dropping them in the desired positions of a table. The result will be only what you need, and how you want it to be organized. The "blackboard" icon on the upper right hand corner of the entry page contains an animated tutorial that explains all you need know to create a custom report and download the result.
