MEMBERS

The 26 members of the Governor's Education Transformation Commission (GETC) were appointed by the Governor from educational organizations and institutions, information technology providers, nonprofits, business entities, and state and local government agencies. Members serve on the Commission for a term of two years.

Members are responsible for making recommendations to the Governor regarding Race to the Top implementation, communications and marketing in local communities, revision of existing state policies that may inhibit the goals of the initiative, coordination with partners, and other relevant issues.

The Governor appointed Dr. Bill Harrison, Chair of the State Board of Education and the Governor's Advisor for Education Transformation, as the Chair of the Commission.

Members of the Commission are also assigned to one of five subcommittees focused on the four pillars of the Race to the Top initiative – Teachers and Leaders, School Turnaround, Standards and Assessments and Data Systems – and Program Management and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) focused on overall management and communications.
