GETTING READY FOR HOME BASE

Home Base is the new, statewide instructional improvement system (IIS) and student information system (SIS) for teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Implementation of the SIS functions and partial IIS functions will begin in school year 2013-14. NCDPI provides the following information to help educators prepare for the arrival of Home Base.

This graphic depicts key components, products and functionality of North Carolina's Home Base project. The components cover information (including student information and learner profile) plus instructional design, practice and resources, student assessment and educator effectiveness (which includes educator evaluation and professional development tools). All this is supported by an integrated solution provided through Pearson and Truenorthlogic tools. PowerSchool is the student Information tool and is a simpler, better system than what it is replacing (NC WISE). Within instruction is an integrated instructional solution that includes Schoolnet (instructional tools and assessment) OpenClass (collaboration) and Test Nav (Summative Assessment). Educator Effectiveness in Home Base is a simpler, better online evaluation system. Home Base includes a new professional development system.
