ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS (AYP)

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) measures the yearly progress of different groups of students at the school, district, and state levels against yearly targets in reading/language arts and mathematics. Title I schools and districts are especially affected if they do not make AYP. About half the schools in North Carolina receive Title I funding as do all 115 of the state’s school districts. AYP results must be publicly reported. More NCLB information and communications tools regarding AYP and links to AYP reporting for schools, districts, and the state are on this site.
