North Carolina Action Plan for High
School Innovation Conference

The North Carolina State Board of Education and the North Carolina
Department of Public Instruction and many other key partners invite
you to the North Carolina Action Plan for High School Innovation
Conference – December 2, 2004 at the North Raleigh Hilton
in Raleigh and December 3, 2004 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Charlotte.
The North Carolina Action Plan for High School Innovation will provide
short and long-term strategies for high school reform, and will be
distributed at two meetings - one in Raleigh on Thursday, December
2, for the eastern portion of the state and the second on Friday,
December 3, for the western portion of the state.
In addition to unveiling the Action Plan for High School Innovation,
Dr. Bill Daggett, nationally-know education speaker, will discuss "Economic
Imperative for Change" and "Proven High School Reform Strategies."
Launching the vision for innovative high school restructuring will
also include a call to action for every community in our state and
will impact positively on all communities and education entities.

Willard Daggett, Ed.D.
President of the International Center for Leadership in Education, is recognized
worldwide for his proven ability to move education systems towards more rigorous
and relevant skills and knowledge for all students. He has assisted a number
of states and hundreds of school districts with their school improvement
initiatives, many in response to No Child Left Behind and its demanding adequate
yearly progress (AYP) provisions. Dr. Daggett has also collaborated with
education ministries in several countries and with the Council of Chief State
School Officers, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Governors
Association, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Apple Computer, and many other
national organizations.
Before founding the International Center for Leadership in Education
in 1991, Dr. Daggett was a teacher and administrator at the secondary
and postsecondary levels and a director with the New York State Education
Department, where he spearheaded restructuring initiatives to focus
the state's education system on the skills and knowledge students
need in a technological, information-based society.
