FORUM HONORS STATE'S DISTINGUISHED TEACHERS
North Carolina's governor and top education officials will salute some of the best teachers in the state at the North Carolina Distinguished Teachers Forum scheduled for Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at the North Raleigh Hilton, Raleigh.
Governor Jim Hunt, State Board Chairman Phil Kirk and State Superintendent Mike Ward will be on hand to not only honor North Carolina's distinguished teachers but also hear their ideas on how to recruit and retain quality professionals.
Distinguished teachers will represent the following award categories: Milken Award recipients, Christa McAuliffe Award winners, North Carolina Teachers of the Year, Terry Sanford Award recipients, North Carolina's National Board Certified Teachers, and high school students receiving the Prezell R. Robinson Scholars Award for prospective teachers.
The Forum is being sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction with assistance from the Teachers in Residence for Recruitment in North Carolina.
