Civics and Economics teachers in the state’s public schools will benefit from attending a videoconference on Personal Financial Literacy scheduled for Sept. 12 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. via the Information Highway.
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction staff will provide information to help teachers prepare their students in developing an economic way of thinking and problem solving that is useful in their lives in addition to living as knowledgeable consumers, prudent savers and informed investors.
In particular, the videoconference will provide an overview of Personal Financial Literacy legislation; current NCDPI documents and resources for teaching Personal Financial Literacy; insight regarding upcoming statewide training for Civics & Economics teachers; drafts of upcoming documents focused on budgeting, saving, credit and investing; and insight on required classroom assessment for Personal Financial Literacy.
