PUBLIC HEARINGS SCHEDULED TO RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON
STATE PLAN FOR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
The State Board of Education has scheduled three public hearings for November to receive comment on the State Plan for Career and Technical Education for 2008-2013.
The purpose of these hearings is to provide an opportunity for interested citizens to express their views on:
- the goals reflected in the state plan;
- the programs to be offered in the plan;
- the allocation of responsibility for programs to be offered in the various levels of education and institutions;
- the processes for transactions to fully comply with the Perkins Act of 2006; and
- the allocation of local, state and federal resources to meet these goals.
The hearings will be held from 4-7 p.m. as follows:

Those who wish to make statements at the hearings should notify Rebecca Payne, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, 6341 Mail Service Center, Raleigh NC, 27699-6341, rpayne@dpi.state.nc.us, 919.807.3818. The notification to present must be received by 5 p.m., Nov. 26.
Each presenter will receive five minutes; however, the hearing officer may grant more time if the situation and attendance warrants such. A written or typed copy of each person’s remarks must be submitted to the hearing officer. Presentations and remarks may be electronically recorded.
Anyone unable to attend the public hearings may submit a written statement to Rebecca Payne at the above addresses. Mailed/emailed statements must be received no later than 5 p.m., Nov. 30. Responses to all comments, presentations and statements will appear in the FY 2008-2013 State Plan for Career and Technical Education pursuant to Section 122 a(3) of the Carl D. Perkins Act of 2006.
