IMPACT I MODEL SCHOOL UPGRADE GRANTS AWARDED

Principals at Perquimans Central, Westwood Elementary, Wells Elementary and Williford Elementary will soon be able to upgrade their computers, video projectors, and interactive white boards thanks to their schools’ recent receipt of an IMPACT I Model School Upgrade grant.

"These schools have been showcases for the IMPACT Model for many years. This grant will enable them to update older equipment and continue as model schools," said Wynn Smith, NCDPI’s interim lead for Instructional Technology.

IMPACT I grants are funded through the competitive portion of North Carolina's Title II, D, Enhancing Education Through Technology allocation from the federal No Child Left Behind program. The grants are aligned with the North Carolina Educational Technology Plan and IMPACT: Guidelines for North Carolina Media and Technology Programs.

The almost $900,000 grant will be distributed as follows:

Eligibility for these grants was based on the federal criteria of high poverty and high technology need.
