STATE SUPERINTENDENT CONGRATULATES SCHOOL EMPLOYEES
ON FINANCE CERTIFICATION
Twenty local school district school business employees from across the state are now graduates of the inaugural School Business Management Academy having just achieved certification as School Business Specialists. This three-year certification program is offered through the North Carolina Association of School Business Officials (NCASBO).
State Superintendent June Atkinson congratulated the graduates and presented each with a certificate saying, “In today’s economy particularly it is essential for finance officers to have the skills and knowledge to effectively use resources to implement sound business practices for their schools.”
Jenny Billings, NCASBO executive director also congratulated the graduates saying, “The dedication and commitment of the Academy members to enhance their skills in this program has been inspiring to experience.”
NCASBO established a School Business Management Academy in 2006 to develop future school business leaders through a comprehensive training program in the area of school finance. The Academy offers three levels of certification: Business Office Director, Business Office Manager and Business Office Specialist. The program has been designed so that an individual can attain certification status in approximately three years.
