PUBLIC HEARINGS SCHEDULED TO RECEIVE COMMENT ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO POLICIES FOR GOVERNING SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES


The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Exceptional Children Division will hold two public hearings to receive comments regarding proposed amendments to specific sections of Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities pursuant to Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).

The public hearings will be held:
March 19, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Exceptional Children's Assistance Center, Suites 102/103

March 20, 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Advanced registration to speak is not required. Staff will not discuss proposed amendments but will be present to receive comments only. The meeting site is accessible to individuals with disabilities. If auxiliary aid or service is needed, please contact the NCDPI at 919.807.3976 or 919.807.3996 at least two weeks prior to the scheduled meeting date.

The amendments to the North Carolina Policies are available for review until April 15. The amendments may be reviewed in person at the NCDPI Exceptional Children Division at the Raleigh address noted above and online at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/publicnotices (link at bottom of notice) or http://ec.ncpublicschools.gov.

Interested citizens are invited to comment on the proposed amendments from March 1 – April 3. In making comments, please give the citation for the section(s) on which you are commenting, (e.g., NC 1504-2.9) and provide comments in the form of statements.
