ASSESSMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY
North Carolina has one of the most comprehensive student assessment programs in the country. For example, the NC End-of-Grade Reading test has measured reading achievement of North Carolina students in grades 3-8 for over 20 years.
The NCRF program will include reading assessments to accomplish four purposes
- Accountability
- Screening
- Diagnosis
- Progress Monitoring
Faculties at NCRF schools will be taught to use data from
these assessments to identify students who may be at risk for reading failure
and who are
having difficulty reading. Faculties will learn to use information from
assessments with proven validity and reliability to make instructional decisions.
The following assessments have been chosen by North Carolina for the school
year
ASSESSMENTS | PURPOSE |
|---|---|
| Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI) & Fluency | Screening, Diagnosis & Progress Monitoring |
