The Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan is a competitive, merit-based scholarship-loan program available to students who have chosen to enter the education profession. A school official such as a high school guidance counselor or principal must recommend students for this award.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program
The Teaching Fellows Program provides a $6,500 per year scholarship for four years to 500 outstanding North Carolina high school seniors. Recipients must be legal residents of North Carolina for tuition purposes and will have met the 12-month in-state residency requirement. Upon acceptance of the scholarship, the student agrees to teach for four years following graduation from college in one of North Carolina's public schools or United States Government schools in North Carolina. If the recipient cannot repay the scholarship through service, the loan is repaid to the State with interest.

Future Teachers of North Carolina Scholarship/Loan (FTNC)
This program provides scholarships to college juniors and seniors in schools of education who intend to teach math, science, special education or English as a second language in North Carolina's public schools. This two-year scholarship-loan can be used at any North Carolina four-year institution that offers a teacher education program.

Physical Education-Coaching Scholarship/Loan (PEC)
This program provides scholarship-loans to students who are pursuing college degrees to become public school teachers and coaches or assistant coaches in rural or high needs areas of the state upon graduation.
