Middle and High School Principals - NCVPS

Thank you for the work you are doing to serve students through the NC Virtual Public School this summer and fall. The State Board of Education and the NC Department of Public Instruction are excited about the possibilities that virtual learning provides for students and continue to be committed to the NCVPS.

This email is to inform you about changes in the registration process for NCVPS courses. As you are aware, registration was suspended until Monday, Aug. 13. You should receive information including a user name and password to log into the new registration system this week that will allow you to access the new registration system at http://registration.ncvps.org. To help you in this registration system transition, please work through the registration training manual at http://www.ncvps.org/NCVPS_Registration_Manual.pdf.

With the new registration system, students will be required to go to campus to register with the NCVPS advisor handling the registration process. The DLA will now be able to give the student their login information through the new registration system, and will be expected to do so when registering students. All students should be directed by the DLA to the coursework website at the http://ncvps.blackboard.com/ to begin their work.

Many of you had student applications in the former registration system, and have had questions regarding their status. Each application was handled based on its status in the previous system and the availability of the course. A complete list of applications from the former registration system can be found at http://ncvps.org/advreginfo/. This is a password-protected spreadsheet with a master list of applications. You can access it with the password, NCVPS advisor, and then scroll through the alphabetical listing of schools to find your listings.

The spreadsheet indicates the treatment of each application during the process of converting the system. Following are the definitions of the treatments indicated:

  • ENROLLED - The application was approved by a DLA, and that course is still being offered. The enrollment has been automatically carried over into the new system. The student will need to be contacted by the DLA to be given login instructions and password.
  • PENDING-NOT ENROLLED - If an application was PENDING in the former registration system, then it will not be in the new system. The student will need to be enrolled by the DLA to gain access to the course.
  • ENROLLED-DENIED - The application was approved by the DLA in the old system, but as of Aug. 10, the course is not going to be offered through NCVPS. Note: Some courses may be added back into our offerings, check our course listings at http://ncvps.org or the registration system for updates.
