INTEGRATING COMPUTER SIMULATION-BASED SCIENCE ASSESSMENTS

NOTE :: Various file formats are used on this page that may require download. If larger than 1mb, it will take longer to download. For instructions or more information, please visit our download page.

In May, we sent you information about the North Carolina Department of Education's involvement in a collaboration of six states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Carolina, Utah, and Vermont) to study the feasibility of integrating computer simulation-based science assessments into balanced state science assessment systems. Attached is a letter that provides more details about the study which is being funded by the US Department of Education. We still need your help in recruiting teachers to participate in the pilot. Selected teachers will receive a $1000 stipend for participation. Many teachers have already applied to participate in the project but they only represent a few districts. We would like a more representative sample of teachers. The attached application extends the deadline to September 18, 2009, for teachers who have not yet applied. If you approve a teacher's participation, you will also need to contact WestEd to complete a Memorandum of Understanding. Teachers who have already applied do NOT need to reapply. However, if you have teachers who you previously approved to participate and have not completed a Memorandum of Understanding, please contact WestEd. If you have any questions, please contact Anna Araneta at aaranet@wested.org.
