Student Support Services, also known as "student services" or "pupil
services," includes prevention, intervention, transition and follow-up services
for students and families. This new site is home to information and resources

Now Recruiting Teacher on Loan
The Center for Recruitment and Retention within the Division of Human
Resource Management is seeking a teacher on loan to provide assistance and
leadership in working with initiatives that promote teacher recruitment, teacher
retention and teacher advancement. The teacher on loan will be based at the
Department of Public Instruction and will be required to travel throughout
the state as needed. The candidate for this position is expected to serve

EC Report Focuses on Disproportionality
Compiled by the Exceptional Children Division, the Disproportionality
Report was created for LEA administrators and EC Coordinators and examines
the status of racial/ethnic groups of children receiving special education
services based on their representation in the general school population. Data

Tuition for Exceptional Children Training Available
Limited spring tuition awards are available for special education
teachers working toward meeting provisional license requirements. Under this
tuition program, employed bachelor level special education teachers on a provisional
license may receive the actual cost of tuition for one approved spring course
up to $140 per semester hour with a final grade of a "B" or higher. These
costs are paid by the Exceptional Children Division to the recipients on a

Extended Content Standard Presentation Online
This resource was developed for school staff to illustrate how to

Middle Grades Science Resources Added

A Vision for Literacy in North Carolina (NEW)
Focused on 21st Century Learning Skills and the North Carolina Standard
Course of Study, this booklet was created to introduce the concepts and guiding
principals of "A K-12 Vision for Literacy." The booklet also defines and depicts
an appropriate literacy scaffold with the goal of preparing students to be
contributing members of society who are self-directed, life-long learners,
collaborative workers and complex thinkers. This booklet also includes an
explanation, a strategic planning overview, glossary of terms, and more.
