Welcome to the Textbook Adoption home page. The material on this site provides information about the statewide textbook adoption process in North Carolina. The Textbook Commission has a membership of twenty-three members: teachers, principals, parents, and a local superintendent. The Governor appoints members to serve four-year terms. Textbooks are evaluated using criteria that is based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Adopted textbooks are placed on contract for five years. Note:
There will be a meeting for publishers on March 15, 2019 at NCDPI, Education Building, 301 North Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC 27601, Room 504 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. The meeting presentation will include information about the 2019 Invitation and the bid submission process. Publishers submitting bids are strongly encouraged to attend. A virtual option is available for anyone who cannot attend in person.
